On August 24, 2024, we received a phone call from Cohen’s pediatrician in Idaho Falls. He informed us that Cohen’s lab results had come back abnormal, and we needed to drive to Utah immediately, where an oncology team would be waiting for us. We spent 18 agonizing hours in the ER, waiting for the results. On August 25, the doctors confirmed our worst fear: Cohen was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. We stayed in the hospital for 10 days, during which Cohen underwent multiple procedures, including surgery to place a port for his treatments. Following the doctors' advice, Cohen and Mom are currently living in Utah for the first phase of his treatment, while Dad and his little sister remain in Idaho so Dad can work and care for her. Cohen’s treatment will last for the next three years. Though the road ahead is uncertain, we are holding on to hope and strength as we face this challenge together.
