Meet the Hilburn family! Chad and Courtney have been married for eight years and had four kids in five years (ages 5, 3, 2 and 9 months). Having their kids so fast not only kept their home busy, but it also made it easy to see something wasn’t right with Courtney's health. A mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy results turned their world upside within 72 hours. Courtney received the devastating diagnosis of ductal carcinoma breast cancer at only 30 years old with four small children.
The Hilburns don’t have all the answers yet. Courtney is scheduled for a double mastectomy on Wednesday, followed by a month-long recovery. Depending on the results from Courtney's biopsy that will be taken during surgery, she also faces the possibility of chemo and radiation treatments. The Hillburns know everyone has hard battles to fight, but fighting together makes it a little easier on them.
