Searle Family

Maverick’s story began with small symptoms that didn’t quite add up. Things felt off, but his family hoped they would pass until they worsened and they sought answers. After an ER visit, they learned he had a brain tumor and he was life flighted to Primary Children’s Hospital, where life quickly shifted from normal routines to hospital rooms and critical decisions.  At just eight years old, Maverick was diagnosed with medulloblastoma and underwent major surgery. His family is incredibly grateful the entire tumor was removed, giving them hope in a frightening time. Further testing showed his tumor is SHH-activated and TP53 wild type, which is more responsive to treatment, and along with no spread, doctors estimate a 75–81% five-year survival rate, bringing much-needed clarity and hope. Maverick has now begun radiation and chemotherapy, and his family has temporarily relocated from Idaho for his care. They navigate the physical, emotional, and financial challenges while supporting Maverick and their other four children. Through it all, their community’s kindness has meant everything, and they are taking this one day at a time, focused on helping Maverick heal. He is strong, deeply loved, and worth every fight ahead.
